As mentioned in the last three posts (here, here and here), the Tennessee Administrative Office of the Courts has released the 2009-2010 Annual Report of the Judiciary. The Report Contains statistical data about our court system.
As mentioned in our earlier posts, there were 263 jury trials and 325 non-jury trials in tort cases in Tennessee last year. The Report tells us which the number of jury and non-jury trials in each county and the number of cases in which damages were awarded in each county. Unfortunately, the Report does not tell us whether the damage awards were in jury or non-jury trials.
Here is some data from the larger counties:

Shelby 47 39 39
Davidson 34 24 37
Knox 43 20 28
Hamilton 24 16 14
Rutherford 16 16 10
Montgomery 8 13 14
Madison 8 4 8
Washington 1 3 2
Sullivan 2 4 1
Anderson 7 7 8
Sevier 4 8 2
Sumner 9 6 9

Here is some other data. Fifty of our counties had no jury trials in the tort cases for the year ended June 30, 2010. Three of our judicial districts had no jury trials for the year ( District 27, 28, 31).
I will be back with more information tomorrow.
